Mobile Bay is the fourth largest estuary in the United States. It encompasses
413 square miles, is approximately 30 miles long, and at its widest point is about
20 miles in distance near the southern end. Being a shallow estuary, the
average depth of the bay is about 10 feet excluding the shipping channel and
transitions the fresh water wetlands of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta to the north with
Dauphin Island, Fort Morgan, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. While fishing
this remarkable estuary, you can expect to catch redfish, speckled trout,
flounder, jack crevalle, black drum, tarpon and many other species of fish.
